PDP Re-Connect Programme
Funded by Scottish Government’s Social Isolation and Loneliness Fund.

PDP in partnership with Leith Timebank and local organisations, have develop 6-week programmes of activities targeted at socially isolated, inactive older people on low incomes in Leith and NE Edinburgh. Each 6-week programme, we do different activities in a different venues each week e.g. New Age Kurling, Gentle Seated Exercise, Tai Chi, Quizzes, etc, plus followed by good chats and light refreshments.

PDP seek to reduce loneliness and social isolation by reconnecting vulnerable older people, experiencing multiple barriers to participation, to reconnect with wider community activities which would build social capital, enhance health and wellbeing. Our project used a socially inclusive approach, with a primary focus on prevention and early Intervention to enable older people to begin to restart more active lives in their wider local community. We wanted to create bridges between older people, their carers and those who work with them to access support or services to help them to re-engage in community activities – preventing the need for high cost interventions of and contributing towards positive health outcomes.

PDP Re-Connect Programme is funded by Scottish Government’s Social Isolation and Loneliness Fund.
